COMING SOON FIND OUT SEPTEMBER'S CAR OF THE MONTH!!!

June's Car of the month is "One of One!" This is how Darryl Wischnewsky describes his 1969 Camaro. This isn't just any Camaro; it's a COPO 427 Camaro special ordered in Pontiac Windward Blue with 328 original miles and not to mention that almost everything on this car is original. Look inside and you'll see the original interior upholstery, headliner, and radio block-off plate. The driveline is original to the car, including peripheral engine parts like the water pump and pulley and the cowl-style air cleaner. Underneath, you'll find the original two-piece style disc brake rotors and spiral shocks in all four corners. Wherever you look, date codes pan out. That makes this Camaro one of a kind!

So what's a COPO? The original owner, Arthur Lipkowitz, worked for General Motors and knew the ins and outs of GM's COPO or Central Office Production Order pipeline for special orders. He chose his favorite GM color, Pontiac Windward Blue, and opted for the COPO 9561 "High-performance Unit" which made power front disk brakes a mandatory option as were the F70 x 14 white letter on seven-inch-wide wheels. Be advised, Lipkowitz didn't forgo comfort. He opted for the Comfortilt steering wheel.

McCullough in June of 2009, this 1969 COPO 427 Camaro is now part of the prestigous Bayway Collection. Since Darryl has owned the car it has been driven less than 200 yards and resides full time in a building. With the help of Camaro Concepts of Houston, Texas, Wischnewsky completed the restoration on the Camaro maintaining its orginality. When Wischnewsky is asked about the orginality and rarity of this COPO he answers, "We have to admit not everythng's original. The tires have been replaced."
